40 Days of Focus - Day 3

July 10, 2008 06:00 by ckincincy

Day three went very well for me.  Even after a rough start, I DID NOT want to wake up at 6AM.  But I did.

Had to meet a old/future co-worker at McDonald's parking lot to get some paper work for his new position at my current company, so I decided I would read my Bible there instead of at home.  As I didn't want to be late for him.  On the way out my wife gave me some not so great news that I'd have to deal with that day.  So that part of my 40 Days of Focus goals started off rough, but it was something I would have responded to in anger several years ago that I didn't do this time.

Got to McDonald's and started reading. A few scriptures stuck out to me in my reading of Matthew 14 - 20, but nothing stuck out to me as much as Matthew 19:4-6

4"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'[a] 5and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'[b]? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

See, when we get into an argument about whether we are born strait or gay, we miss the point.  We were born male and female, designed to mate the other sex.  How you are born (of which there is still no scientific proof of this even being a possibility) is irrelevant to the argument from a Christian perspective.  Plus it saddens me that so many Christians have ignored this scripture in their own life with a 50% divorce rate inside the church.

But then I headed to work, said my prayers on the way.

Got home and jumped in the pool with some of my children.  My oldest was craving some attention so we stayed in for sometime.   He's a great child.

Then the day was pretty much over and I went to bed.  So Day 3 was a success, a bit of a rough patch in the husband/wife relationship, but we're human.
