Election 2008 - Words Do Matter

The more Barack Hussein Obama speaks the more I feel that I might HAVE to vote for John McCain. Barack as president (and its clearly obvious that he will be the democratic candidate) is a dangerous place for the country to be at. He is making claims that won't make this country more liked, but less liked.

He says that he will end NAFTA, but does he really think that will help us in relation to other countries?

He says we are in Iraq 5 years to long. That's just plain bad. It was firmly believed by ALL (democrats and Republicans) that Iraq had WMD's, and he was ok with that? 2 years to long? Maybe I can see that (still don't agree with it, but at least its better).

Then there was his pastor. Boy oh boy, what a lame way to try and weasel out of that. So just because he wasn't there during the 'bad' sermons he didn't know his spiritual advisor felt that way? GET REAL. He's not that dumb is he?

But the truth is, I can't put it better then this video.

Barack, don't tell me words don't matter... they certainly do. Just listen to YOUR words.

Jeremiah Wright couldn't have hurt Obama's cause even more if he'd deliberatly tried. SURELY Barack knew that he'd said some of these things... Especially if there's video tape of it.

But ignoring that, even I'm thinking of supporting John McCain now! I've always liked and respected McCain, but I'd liked Obama's style for a while. It's just some of his fiscal projects are getting me worried. I smell a HUGE tax hike - especially since niether Clinton or Obama are willing to look at the nightmare that is Social Security in this country.

Democrats are running on a ticket that can only be answered if HUGE tax hikes happen. 'Free' medical coverage is only free if you don't pay taxes.

The democrats recently passed an initial 5 year budget that would cost me $3000 per year, and this doesn't count the new revenue that would be needed to pay for the 'free' benefits.

Well, I don't watch TV, so I've not seen any of this footage before. It might be effective for the conservative cause if it weren't so heavily doctored. My first reaction is that anyone can be made to look any particular way with the proper (or improper) editing. If "words do matter", then such heavy editing wouldn't be necessary to make a point.

My second reaction might be frightening to you: and that is that I believe most of what both the candidate and Rev. Wright have to say. I have been incredibly embarrassed by the behavior of this government in recent decades, with very few exceptions. Like the candidate and his wife, and no doubt Rev. Wright, I, too, hope that someday we as a nation will once again become the voice of genuine and humble righteousness in this world.

Rev. Wright is guilty of hyperbole on occasion, and has not always been a perfect man; I think he would admit that. Barack has handled the issue very well, and in doing so, has provided ample evidence of his qualifications for leadership.

Aaron,
Since the time of the World Wars we have never been a country that others would see as humble righteousness. We are still the only country to drop the bomb. Not real humble.

What made us vastly different was that we had a bunch of citizens that stood for their country 100%. It is still very hard for me to believe that not even 7 years later we want to kiss and make up with a faction of people who have not repented of their thinking and killed 3000 people. This faction, radical muslims, have been after our country since the 70's.

I thought I would also clarify, I remember these incidents and they are 'doctored' only to make it nice for a video... the actual times this stuff happened was much worse then the video portrays.

Do you really think that a tiny minority of Americans would have supported the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, had they known in advance?

And "vastly different?" Different than Germany's support for Hitler, or Roman support for the emperor? These are hardly righteous regimes, either. It's easy to stone a sinner when everyone else is picking up rocks, too. Those with the rocks have power; who cares about the one being stoned?

My faith, C, your faith, introduces the radical idea that power comes not in strength, but in the practice of forgiveness. Someone has to decide when that practice will begin, or there will be no progress. It's a lot harder than choosing a country at random to invade as revenge; it's also a lot more noble.

Enough have died, C, to make a point (as if making a point is ever worth a death!). Let go; live your faith.

No, I actually think a high majority of Americans would have supported dropping the bombs when they were dropped.  A LOT of life's were lost in those wars, and that was the end game.  We are so spoiled in America.  We've had 4,000 deaths in a war, with not a random country but one that was actively against us.  It was a matter of who would strike first.  9/11 meant that we had to not sit back and wait, we had to attack first.

The faith you describe is one of being a passive, a door mat.  Jesus was none of that.  He was loving but stern.   He didn't do it by military force, but that was his ministry that can't be compared to a country defending itself.

Enough have died.  But honestly if it takes 1000 more deaths to secure my child's freedom for the foreseeable future and it is a sacrifice that those 1000 people were willing to make then I honor those 1000 and thank them for securing my freedom.

What I still don't get is the line of thought you have to hold to support a democrat.  Enough have died when it comes to war, but the 1.2 MILLION babies killed in 2004 are something to overlook.  The 50 MILLION babies killed since abortion was legalized is something to overlook.

More deaths then any current war will ever cost us.  And frankly if we sit on our butts and do nothing, many more then 4000 Americans will die at the next terrorist attack that radical muslims lay on our soil.  Remember they killed 3000 the last time.  One day, just a few hours of terror... 3000 innocent people who did not volunteer for war are dead.

I guess is there is one thing that gives me peace Aaron, is that you went from a heavy right county to a heavy right state
