40 Days Of Focus Day 38, 39, and 40

August 15, 2008 06:06 by ckincincy

Well its over.

Today is day 40.  I actually cheated a bit and finished my reading of the new testament on day 38.

I've been saying my prayers on a continuous basis.

This has been a very rewarding experience for me.  I am a bit stoked that I actually did read the New Testament in just 40 days.  Now I'm ready to tackle the Old Testament ;-).  This experience has certainly helped my prayer life, as I am no praying in a continuous manner.  The people on my list are on my heart and I pray about them often.

The saying goes that if you do something for 30 days it becomes a habit.  I've picked up some pretty good habits.

I will be doing this again in the future.

Another good day.

Into the book of Revelation, an interesting book to say the least.

3 Days of reading left, then my 40 days are up.

Next few days will be brutal in getting them done.

Almost done.

Will pray fully later today, but have my reading done which just leaves me with a  things left to read.

Its been a real joy reading the entire New Testament.  Now I'm debating how I want to go about reading the Old Testament.

40 Days of Focus Day 33 and 34

August 9, 2008 18:37 by ckincincy

Day 33 wasn't great for my goals, had company over for dinner and that lasted a while.

Made up today.

So its all good.  Just a busy life!... on top of all of this I am reading a book that the men's ministry of church will be going over in a few weeks.  Have 6 hours to read the remaining 9 chapters... would explain why, but don't have the time!

40 Days of Focus Day 32

August 7, 2008 21:14 by ckincincy

Day 32 started of unbelievably.... Was driving to work and I got the following text message:

Several men of god on this txt, all of which know my situation. I am taking a stand, a leap of faith in my belief of a mighty God. Pray 4 me. Heb11:1 & 13:6

But it was from a non-local number, I had NO IDEA who it was. So when I got to the office I searched for the area code and it pointed me to a fellow that I had recently reconnected with from my first church (though he had since moved South).  In our conversation a month or so ago he had told me that he and his wife were separated.  Broke my heart, so this family went on my prayer list.  So I email him and ask what's up and he tells me that he is taking a stand for his marriage!! Very cool, I will continue to pray for this family... will you as well?

Got home and mowed my grass... then me and my son sat down to have a faith talk.  He is hitting that stage in life where he will need to decide for himself to be a Christian.  So we had an open conversation about what it means to be a Christian, and I gave him some homework.  I plan on doing this one night a week for the foreseeable future.

Then sat down and read my scriptures for the day and said my prayers.

So that's day 32.

40 Days of Focus Day 31

Came home and got my reading done.  As that has turned into my reading time.  Didn't get much out of today's reading.  But more to the point that I've read the section I read today many times before.

Then headed off to church to have a meeting with the leadership team of the men's ministry.  Lots of good stuff on the horizon there.

Said my prayers.

Overall a good day.

40 Day Of Focus Day 30

August 5, 2008 19:41 by ckincincy

I enjoyed my reading for today.  1 Timothy 1 - 6.

One of my absolute favorite books in the Bible.  And highly relevant to my church situation today.  We are in the midst of trying to adopt new bylaws and the sections in question dealt with Elders and deacons.  1 Timothy highly deals with both.

Even spurred me to send some thoughts about this to the Elders of LifeStream Christian Church.

Said my prayers, but also had a bit of a re-awakening about how I pray.  I've been praying for a friends job situation.  I've specifically been praying for him to get a new contract. But the thought occurred, is that what God wants? What if by giving him this job would rob him of greater victories in life?  The ways of God sometimes are unexplainable by man.  So I'm thinking my prayer would be better in line with the will of God to pray that he guides him in this journey.  In the end he will end up where God wants him. Now I know the person I'm talking about would likely have the same selfish reaction I had to this.... PRAY FOR HIM TO KEEP HIS JOB!  Because at some level its OK to pray for something selfish and God can be moved by such prayers.

Ten days left.

40 Days of Focus Day 29

August 4, 2008 23:21 by ckincincy

Day 29 in the books.

Got all my goals done.  Even did a review of my prayer list and sent a few emails out to several folks on the list to see what's up.

When I started this I KNEW satan would attack and take advantage of things that are easy to take advantage of.  I just, for once ;-), would love to be wrong.  Got off work and had to immediately go to a friends house and help some dear friends work through some family issues.  Hopefully today is day one of some REAL healing.

One thing I do love about this though, is that it was/is great to see this family rely on LifeStream Christian Church for the support they need.

40 Days of Focus Day 28

August 3, 2008 13:22 by ckincincy

I've read my scripture for the day.  And said my prayers.

Its interesting as I go through these prayers to see how I've watched God move in several of them, and how several more of them may come to conclusion soon.

I am really enjoying these 40 days of focus, and WILL be doing this again in the near future.
